        <p>The Texas Cultural Trust is calling for nominations for its 2011 Medal of Arts.</p>

<p>Who, exactly, are they looking for?</p>

<p>"Our honorees have made their mark globally, but their backgrounds are rooted locally, having either been raised in Texas, developed a significant portion of their body of work in Texas, or supported the arts in a way that made a significant impact on arts development in our state," said El Paso gallery owner Adair Margo, who is co-chairing the 2011 awards with San Antonian Alice Carrington Foultz.</p>

<p>Past winners bear out that description. They include Sandra Cisneros, Walter Cronkite, Naomi Shihab Nye, Vikki Carr, Lyle Lovett, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Rauchenberg and Bill Wittliff.</p>

<p><br />
The categories are: Architecture, Arts Education, Craft, Dance, Music, Literary Arts, Visual Arts, Theatre, Film, Media/Multi-Media, Lifetime Achievement, Foundation Arts Patron Corporate Arts Patron and Individual Arts Patron. Awards will not be given in every category.</p>

<p><br />
Past winners include Walter Cronkite, Lyle Lovett, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Rauchenberg and Bill Wittliff.</p>

<p>March 1 is the nomination dedline. Criteria and nomination forms are available on the <a href="http://www.txculturaltrust.org/tmaa">trust's Web site</a>.</p>

<p>The awards will be given February 28-March 1, 2011 in Austin</p>
